Welcome to the Midwest Prep Hockey League (MPHL) — a premier and highly competitive prep school ice hockey league in North America dedicated to developing elite student-athletes and preparing them for the next level of competition, including NCAA college hockey and beyond.

Who We Are

Founded in 2000, the MPHL was created to provide a structured, high-caliber competitive environment for preparatory school hockey programs across the United States and Canada. What began with six founding member schools has since grown into a dynamic league featuring top Division 1 prep hockey programs.

Our league’s mission is simple:

• Develop elite hockey talent
• Foster academic excellence and personal growth
• Offer high-visibility competition for scouts and higher education opportunities
• Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership

Our Purpose

The MPHL serves as more than just a league — it’s a development pipeline for young hockey players aiming for college-level and higher competitive play. Through a comprehensive season that includes showcase weekends, head-to-head matchups, and strong rivalries, our student-athletes gain significant exposure and experience in front of scouts and collegiate programs.

History & Growth

• Inception: The league was launched with six original members including Culver Academies, Gilmour Academy, Lake Forest Academy, Park Tudor School, Shady Side Academy, and St. Francis High School.
• Expansion: Over the years the MPHL has expanded to include prestigious prep and independent schools across the U.S. and Canada, strengthening the league’s competitive depth and geographic reach.
